Story behind the song
Lord Franklin was lost on a whaling voyage and his lament has been popularized many times since. John DeJong, a great guitarist and singer, and Lesl, were troubadours at The 1520 The Tudor Rooms in Leicester Square, and on their nights off, played folk clubs together, notably at The Crypt, in the basement of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church at Trafalgar Square.
