Story behind the song
It's kind of funny-- to entertain my youngest son I made up a silly song about my wife's dog being messy. I realized I liked the simple cowboy tune and wanted to write a song around it. I had been watching Divorce Court and remember scoffing at the bravado shown by some of the young men ending their relationships. This is my response. Thanks to Julianna MacDuffie for her wonderful singing, and helping fix the arrangement! Note: this is meant to be immediately followed by "This Train is Moving".
Lyrics
Leaving ain't easy Don't care what they tell you Parts of your heart start to fail Right food goes forward The grave's got the left And your mind's somewhere miles down the trail O'er the lake on a limb Where it's now think or swim Praying the branch doesn't break Leaving ain't easy Don't care what they sell you Never touch more than you'll take Never touch more than you'll take
