A wedding song I wrote for my wife recently. A beautiful rendition of the Vows husband and wife exchange.
I wrote this song for my wife, for our Anniversary, or rather, the anniversary of our engagement. (We've been married 20 years now, but we celebrate our engagement too, it was an interesting story...)
Anyway, it is apalling how lightly people these days take these Vows we make before God and everybody. A Vow is a promise to God, and is not to be taken without careful consideration.
I meant every word of them when I said them. But I understand, as we all should, that married life is not always easy, but it's Commitment and Choices (sometimes on a minutely basis) that KEEP you married.
I know that sometimes we don't even GET a choice - we are sued for divorce, or our partner leaves, or is unrepentantly unfaithful or dangerous.
I am not 'down' on divorcee's... I think most people who have gone through one would say it was like cutting off an arm. (Though some might say it was more like cutting off a mole).
But this song is intended as encouragement for us to stick it out, to realize it WAS a vow, that God is watching, and He hates divorce.
