Story behind the song
Some biblical references on the subject of brokeness and humility:
GOD DWELLS with those who are of a contrite and humble spirit.
Isaiah 57:15 "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."
Psalm 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."
I believe we are living in a time when true worshipers will not be afraid of passion in their worship. In fact, I believe this is what God is after. He is a romantic at heart, and romance without passion is not romance at all. If the heart is touched, there will be evidence of it. Mary's broken alabaster box poured forth a fragrance that Jesus said would be remembered forever. Our hearts are like that alabaster box - until it is broken in humility there can never be an outpouring of ourselves in the fragrance of true worship.
Worship is surrender. Self is surrendered through brokenness. We need to find this place.

Many of the secret place songs are completely spontaneous unrehearsed live recordings of intimate worship. They are prophetic and unique. These "free worship" songs are not "state-of-the-art" productions, they are "state-of-the-heart" productions. They are not polished performances, they are passionate pleadings of a soul in pursuit of God. It is personal, intimate prayer in song. I hope that as you listen to these songs, you will not just be a spectator looking in from the outside, but that you will be drawn into your own personal time of prayer and worship, and that you too will become possessed with a passion for His Presence.
This time of free worship was totally unrehearsed, and recorded in one 20 minute sitting. The song lasts for approximately 18 minutes. Because of the size of the MP3 file I was forced to cut it into two sections. Fortunately, there was a natural break halfway through the song that allowed me to do this without seriously affecting the nature of the song or its impact. In fact, each section can be heard quite separately on its own as a complete song in its own right. But they were not conceived that way. To hear the song as it was recorded, download both files and listen to them one after the other.
