Singer/Songwriter Traditional Country I have played numerous venues in Alabama and Tennessee. Also, made appearances on the ABC 33/40 Talk of Alabama morning show and The Barnyard. I have always loved music. I learned classical piano as a child. Piano music has a way to soothe you. I would play and sing with my parents in a gospel group. We traveled to different churches to perform. During the teenage years and 20's I didn't sing publicly. When I reached my 30's I started singing karaokee at different places. I started participating in karaokee contests. That was a lot of fun. About 3 or 4 years ago I borrowed a guitar from a friend, I had never played a guitar before. I learned to strum a few chords and I was hooked. I went and purchased my first guitar. From there I started writing my own songs and playing them for family and friends at gatherings such as; reunions, picnics and by the campfire. My mother-in-law became ill with colon cancer, so then, I started taking my backpacker guitar with me to her chemo treatments. I would play and sing for the chemo patients. Music kept me together at this difficult time. I worked for the local post office, but in November of 2007, I took a leave to have shoulder surgery. During my time out of work, I continued to write music and sing. I also realized that my shoulder was not going to let me go back to work. I made the decision to quit. My family and friends encouraged me to try music. I auditioned at Lonnie's in Nashville and sang there for a short time. I also, met Larry Rogers at Studio 19 in Nashville. He has helped me record my songs. We are working to complete my first CD. I have completed the last band session. UPDATE: CD "FOR THE LOVE" is now ready and available. INFUENCES: I grew up listening to Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Buck Owens, George Jones and Conway Twitty. I developed a liking for traditional country music at an early age. As I got older I started listening to Jazz and Blues artists such as Billie Holiday, Pine Top Perkins, Ray Charles, and Al Green. And let’s not forget Sevie Ray Vaughn, one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Gospel music had a large influence as well. My parents started a gospel group when I was younger and I traveled, played the piano and would sing with them. Those influences when added up, create a unique blend of music.

Story behind the song
The motivation behind this song was a picture took in Gatlinburg TN of my husband dressed as a cowboy. I love this picture of him!
Lyrics
PART-TIME COWBOY Verse 1 He works a 9 to 5 With an endless drive Dressed in his best Pinstriped suit He works hard And he works long Making a living Doing no wrong If he wins this case He’ll get a big pay raise Chorus When he puts on his boots And his cowboy hat Looks in the mirror And says “what about that!” He’s got a big belt buckle With his name written in red He’s just a part-time cowboy Wishing instead Bridge But he knows That country ain’t easy You take two steps forward And you never look back It’s a way of life It’s a matter of fact Verse 2 He thinks of Hollywood Where John Wayne stood Taking the stance Just give him a chance He knows fortune And he know fame Life’s a gamble Not a game But he just can’t help This feeling he gets Repeat chorus End He’s got a big belt buckle With his name in red A part-time cowboy Wishing instead A part-time cowboy Wishing instead
