For over 40 years I played lead guitar and did back-up vocals in various country bands. It has been one of the greatest thrills of my life. But, these days I stay at home and compose songs, both lyrics and music. My writing style is much broader than just country music. I also write southern rock, a little blues, lots of smooth jazz and movie themes and even some latin music. I have been writing for about 20 years and hope to for quite a few more years.

Lyrics
She Ain’t Never Coming Back © 2008 Alan D. David, BMI / Robert Pickens The taillights on that Chevy disappeared from sight As it pulled out of the driveway just before sunlight She had lived next door to him for all his seven years Waving through the morning mist he couldn’t stop the tears Her daddy got new job up in Hackensack He knew it was their last goodbye She ain’t never coming back She ain;t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back Then he met sweet Nancy his first year in high school She was the cutest girl in class, she was way too cool She was his steady girlfriend till that new boy came to town When she gave him back his ring silence was the only sound When she walked away from him he knew it was a fact He knew it was their last goodbye She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back As he walked down the aisle he beamed a father’s pride From pre-school to college and now she was a bride But inside he felt like that seven-year-old boy As he gave away his only one, his lovely pride and joy Everything in life we love isn’t promised us forever It may be gone tomorrow, perhaps returning never. As he held her fragile hand she turned and smiled at him He could barely understand her voice, it was weak and thin She formed the words on her lips before she closed her eyes Her hand slipped from his, and then he realized Her body lay next to him, but Heaven’s where she’s at She said her last goodbye She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back Someday he’ll join her, but right now She ain’t never coming back She ain’t never coming back (Fade)
