Lyrics
I was lonely boy livin' on a dusty road in a sleepy Indiana town where every truth I found was a lie somebody else had thrown away way out in the country was a crooked stretch of gravel and we all called it lightning road we'd sit all night on the hood of my car playin' guitar In time discovered what needed was a lover but she didn't seem to come my way then one night on Lightning road i saw the light It was a cold December in '72 when my father died momma cried I couldn't even though I tried it's the sound of voices echoing down through the canyon it's the cold embrace of a wave rushing up on the shore a Lahaina morning dreaming under the Banyon takes me back to lightning road lightning road Come on baby tell me do ya wanna go way out in the country down to Lightning Road? lightning road Come on baby tell me do ya wanna go south of the border down to Mexico? on Lightning Road it's the sound of voices echoing down through the canyon It's the cold embrace of a wave rushing up on the shore a Lahaina morning dreaming under the Banyon takes me back to lightning road lightning road
