Story behind the song
Much of my writings are emotional, at best..and always come out something I've experience or a conversation I've had. This one came out of mixture of conversation AND something I experienced in the past. When someone is sent to guide you through something..LISTEN, and HEED; they wouldn't be there if they couldn't understand or hadn't been there at least once. The Lord always sends someone who can help; and their words, at times, may seem harsh, but their advice is priceless. The old saying goes that you can't help someone unless you've been there yourself. As this song came together, I thought of Johnny Proctor and asked him if he'd like to add some guitar to the mix. And, in doing that, he exceeded my expectations...thank you, Johnny, you will never know how much I appreciated your help. :) Please, listen to the message of the song..and reach for His hand, before you head off into the unknown..He's great company as you move through your trial, and a VERY present help in time of need. :)
Lyrics
I know the road you're walking every day is rough, With all you're going through, I know that it's tough I'm passing on- some things that I have learned, Along the way- you'll see this concerns... The journey you're on (Chorus) Don't ask Him for patience, Your trials will get harder; Ask Him for strength, That will take you farther; Heed my advice, I've been there before. He's made a promise To see you through; Every step you take, He'll be there with you Reach for His Hand.. As you open the door. Don't wanna hear I don't know what I'm talkin' about You've not been where I've walked; You're just starting out This journey was so hard in the beginning for me And someone was sent to talk to me, Like I'm talking to you! Instrumental Break Bridge: I'm passing on- some things that I have learned, Along the way- you'll see this concerns... The journey you're on!
