I wrote The "New Cambridge March" for the "Hot Tamale Brass Band" back in 1993 and they still perform it to this day "night", I've marched down many an avenue and stood in plenty of smoky bars with these guys and consider them all family. These bands employ some of the rhythms from funk and later popular styles in the continuing evolution of the style. This is a very popular tune with the band and the people who come to hear them play it was also used to advertise Harpoon Beer" a local brand that we've knocked back quite a few of.
