Story behind the song
I wrote this song in July of 2006, for the Homecoming Celebration at Springfield Baptist Church in Natchez. On the morning I was to sing it, I got word that our pastor, Rev. Marvin Cobb had passed away. I wrote the second half that Sunday morning before church.

Verse 1
With precious memories I recall those days of yester year
The gatherings at the country church with friends and family near
The preacher told about a place where streets were paved with gold
Of the Savior's love and cleansing blood that washes white as snow

The choir would sing praise to the King and oh, how sweet the sound
Then after church we'd fellowship with dinner on the ground
The bride of Christ all gathered up to lift His name on high
And thank Him for the grace that saved a sinner such as I

And trade memories of the days we've shared with those that we love so
Once a year we reunite with friends who've moved away
