I wrote this song for my little sister Julie's 40th birthday next week. She aint heard it yet so I hope she likes it. Hope you do too...may need the hankies :o) xx
I wanted to do something special for my sisters 40th year, so I wrote her this wee song. As the years pass we find less time to spend together, each busy with the house and the kids and our jobs, but I wanted her to know I'm always here for her, (just a phonecall away) I think she knows this though ;O)
When we were kids I always remember us playing out in the rain with our wellies on , splashing about in puddles for hours. ( mum would shout that tea was ready and we pretended we never heard her) LOL
We also did lots of climbing and torturing bumble bees and our poor cat (Topsy), we used to put dolls clothes on her and take her out in the pram LOL we were a couple of tearaways :o)
Two Little Girls
by Dawn Diamond 23/01/08
Two little girls in wellingtons
Dancing in the rain
Climbing trees and fences
We had no fears back then
From catching bees in jelly jars
To dressing up the cat
we had some great adventures
And we had so many laughs
Now that we're both older
With families of our own
You with 3 boys, me with 2
Time has surely flown
And it's hard to find the time to say
Just what's on our minds
What with full time jobs and homes to keep
We lead such busy lives
Chorus
But that don't mean I don't care
That don't mean I'm not there
And I'm only a phonecall away
That don't mean I don't think of you
And remember years gone by
Cause you're my little sister
Until the day I die
Looking at old photographs
As you reach this special year
Sharing with our children
Our laughter and our tears
It puts things in perspective
And makes me proud inside
To know I have a sister
To know I have a friend for life...
Chorus 2
So I hope you know that I care
Hope you know I'm always there
And that I'm only a phonecall away
I want you to know that I think of you
And remember years gone by
Cause you're my little sister
Until the day I die
Outro
Two little girls in wellingtons
Dancing in the rain
That's how I'll always think of us
Until my dying day
Happy birthday
Little sister
Happy Birthday....to you......end
