Well this is one of my own favourite lyrics, I must confess and the incomparable Dawn Diamond does everything else herself.
Every one of us has the wings to fly; we do not always use them, however which is a tragedy...and that is what this song is
When I wrote this lyric, I had no idea who would try and turn it into a song. I hoped Dawn Diamond might try...and from the moment she read it, she wanted to give it a go...and once again, my dear friend proves that her wings are in good condition for she soars.
Flightless Birds
by Dawn Sinclair
1.
Every talent we are given
is a feather in the wing
Everyone we meet in life
is blessed for what they bring
We don't have to do it all alone
when there are angels standing by
But we’ve all been given our own wings
And it’s up to us to fly
chorus
There's nothing more tragic
than the plight of flightless birds
and nothing’s more pointless
than speaking silent words
If we hide our light from everyone
whether large or small
then we’re not using our wings to fly
so why have them at all?
2.
There are people who are starving
There are others getting fat
There are those who are indifferent
Tell me, what's the use of that?
We don't have to walk the Earth alone
If we just reach out our hand
It's easy if you think of the world
as one united land
bridge
where everyone has wings
and everyone could fly
if only they had courage
to soar into the sky
chorus
There's nothing more tragic
than the plight of flightless birds
and nothing’s more pointless
than speaking silent words
If we hide our light from everyone
whether large or small
then we’re not using our wings to fly
so why have them at all?
