Shea€™s Still Waiting
She cries a lot when shea€™s alone
Mostly late at night at home,
While she listens for the door
Telling her hea€™s home once more.
She watches late shows on TV,
Wondering where he could be,
Yet ita€™s never on her mind
He wona€™t be coming back this time.
His plane went down in 84, too many miles from friendly shore,
The telegram said M.I.A., she thinks hea€™s alive today.
She takes his picture from its place and holds it close against her face,
Ita€™s faded now from all her tears
But shea€™s been doing it for years.
She sets her table every night, a place for two with candlelight
And shea€™s been waiting oh so long
But she still thinks hea€™s coming home.
His plane went down in 64, too many miles from friendly shore,
The telegram said M.I.A., she thinks hea€™s alive today.
She takes his picture from its place and holds it close against her face,
Ita€™s faded now from all her tears
But shea€™s been doing it for years.
