I wrote this song just after having finished going through the dreaded "Change of life" that all of us must face; and even then, when we least expect it.
Dawn Diamond did a cut first, as I originally had written it for her to sing.
After several requests to get a version of mine together; I sang it; with plenty of memories going through my mind as I did.
There were many feelings that I had while writing this..and they translated right into the song, as I had lived this, and these were my thoughts during the emotional time I had gone through; and it was turbulent, to say the least.
But, I did make it through...and was it worth all I'd seen and endured? "I'd Say It Was". :)
Enjoy the listen. :D
As I gaze into the Looking glass I see,
(Just) a shadow of what I used to be.
As I'd journeyed thru my life, so much was lost;
I asked myself, "Was it worth the cost?"
(Chorus)
(Chorus)
I'd say it was,
For the strength I have earned.
I'd say it was,
In everything I've learned.
Each step that's brought me forward,
In time, helped me to see.
The answer to these questions;
Lies (deep)inside of me;
I'd say it was,
2nd Verse:
I have given many years of my life,
Spending time in loving sacrifice.
For all I've seen, I will never be the same
And I asked myself, "Was this worth the pain?"
(chorus)
3rd Verse:
Watching the reflections of my life,
Thru tears and pain, many times of strife.
The question that I asked myself again.
"Was it worth all the times I suffered shame?"
(chorus)
