If it has to be related to something, it would probably be Pet Sounds meets The Monkees Headquarters.
It's very child-like. Piano, strings, acoustic guitars and a sing along chorus.
Mark Mikel:
When this song came streaming into my brain from the land of unwritten songs, I knew this was something special. Written very quickly and recorded slowly. It took a long time for me to write out the string parts. I did the score all by hand and I can't read music (though I can figure out how to notate it SLOWLY). I usually name "Paper Aeroplanes" as my favorite when pushed.
scrappy little piece of paper
and your red crayon
just because i'm shy if you don't mind
i'll write it down
gasp! my little heart is open
careful as i can
fold it in a way, another way, i cannot say
where it might land
hope in your hands
aeroplanes- they love you as they fly
aeroplanes- the message in the sky
aeroplanes- don't let one pass you by
cos i've been lonely as a hermit lately
up here in my room
don't look at the sky but don't know why
i just look at you
getting pretty low on paper
work my last design
tears on every crease, i'll find no peace til i release
these words of mine
open your eyes
aeroplanes- they love you as they fly
aeroplanes- the message in the sky
aeroplanes- don't let one pass you by
no, don't let it pass you by
no, don't let one pass you by
