Originating from the San Francisco bay area, Gemini Soul is known for their eclectic blend of jazz-funk fusion with an electronic element"Cyber Jazz." Gemini Soul consisted of the founding members Andre Ajamu Akinyele (bass, guitars, keyboards) and Jon O'Bergh (piano, fender rhodes, keyboards), along with additional support by Andrew Foster (percussion) and Alex Marks (drums). As of 2015, the current line-up consists of founding members Andre Ajamu Akinyele (bass, guitars, keyboards) and Jon O'Bergh (piano, fender rhodes, keyboards), along with additional support by The Nu Jazz Horns (horns), Earl Jones (percussion), and Dean "Stix" Jones (drums). Gemini Soul released the band's final album "WILLONA'S BOUTIQUE" on September 18, 2015. The album features nine tracks including the hit singles "The Watchers of the Watchers Are Being Watched," "Buffalo Butt," and "Dilemma." inspired by the television show Good Times and the character Willona Woods, the song titles are words Willona has either said or themed episodes based around her character. Additionally, the album features a non-themed title, the Meshell Ndegeocello song "Criterion" taken from her album Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape. Recorded with the two founding musicians Andre Ajamu Akinyele and Jon O'Bergh, along with additional support by The Nu Jazz Horns, Earl Jones, and Dean "Stix" Jones, "WILLONA'S BOUTIQUE" was recorded for the fans. Although Alex Marks and Andrew Foster were not part of this project, the album is Gemini Soul's way of giving back and saying thank you after all the years of support. It's been over six years since Gemini Soul released an album, the controversial "Dark Skin Babies : The Movement" (2009), which reached #13 on Amazon's "Hot New Releases" chart.
