Story behind the song
American Idol wanted a song relating to an inspirational journey which would fit the finale for the show. I feel that if you want to truly discover yourself, then a good route is to reach out and then see yourself within your relationship to others. Communication is the key to all things.
Lyrics
Standing up here on my own, I realize I’m not alone. We all have hopes and dreams inside. We all have tried. We all have cried. Now, my dreams they’re on their way, and part of you in me will stay. So, for all of us I’ll go Where strength must show. Where faith must know. So, I must reach out. Have no doubt in my mind somehow. Reach out. When you seek you will find somehow. This time, I’ll push on through...the old me that I once knew and I might find myself while I’m reaching out to you. This world’s not meant for one. Without the moon there is no sun. And, even as I sing You’re listening. You’re listening. So, I must reach out. Have no doubt in my mind somehow. Reach out. When you seek you will find somehow. This time, I’ll push on through...the old me that I once knew and I might find myself while I’m reaching, I’m reaching... Reach out. Have no doubt in mind somehow. Reach out. For when you seek you will find somehow. This time I pushed on through... the old me that I once knew. Hey, look... I found myself The moment I reached out, I reached out to you.
