Story behind the song
New songs; These two new songs by Annette Farrington; "Water and Wood" and "Labyrinth" are an excerpt from the forth coming CD, "Soul Singer" on Persephone Records. In this project Annette explores her relationship between the deep feminine, the visceral and the concrete world. Using symbolism, and magical realism poetry she takes listeners on a journey through the conscious soul. Her soaring voice is featured prominently in both tracks allowing listeners to be stirred by the vibrations of the voice and the power of the lyrical content, they are urged to take a journey of there own making. Once again Annette teams up with Anthony Resta of Collective Soul and Duran Duran fame to produce deeply satisfying, slightly mind altering, soul stirring cathartic music. Lyrics
Labyrinth You ask me to respect myself But I’m not the only one you’ve touched The labyrinth above my head Points to the place that I’d rather be Feels like Oh I’ll never let it go (Feels like I’ll keep reaping what I sow) I’m sorry the veil is lifted We’re so sorry the veil has lifted Can you see two of me? Duality You ask me to enjoy myself But I’m not the only one you’ve touch Our bodies dance make shadows on the veil And like my life it’s just a show Oh I’ll never let it go (Oh I’ll keep reaping what I sow) I’m sorry the veils lifted Can you see two of me? The women and the man The yin and the yang the light and the darkness The whore and the priestess like my life it’s just a show We all must find our own way to go The forest deep I walk alone The labyrinth, the labyrinth it brings me home.
