Story behind the song
A tribute to the men that I worked with......Done in 3/4 time starting in D. When the work got tough we used to yell at the new guys and tell them too REACH BACK . Some did and they are the ones I sing about.
Lyrics
Reach Back Long gone are the days when The Hammer men were put to the test When we really had to reach back Dig deep into our selves When reach back Mother F***** was a common thing to be heard I hope your heart blows out Were just encouraging words C We pounded on blocks at night and all through the day When the blood ran from our hands till they calloused enough for us to stay Now we did this for 30 years And now the job has gone away A wonder no one had a heart attack The way we use too Reach Back When reach back mother F***** Was a common thing to be heard And I hope your heart blows out Were just encouraging words When men were only welcome The Girls had to stay away When the Hammer men were The men back in the day C We pounded on blocks at night And all through the day When the blood ran from our hands Till they calloused enough for us to stay Now we did this for 30 years And now the job has gone away A wonder no one had a heart attack The way we use too Reach Back solo C We pounded on blocks at night and all through the day When the blood ran from our hands Till they calloused enough for us to stay Now we did this for 30 years And now the job has gone away A wonder no one had a heart attack The way we use too Reach Back tag A wonder no one had a heart attack The way we use too Reach Back 1998 by Arthur Holt
