My Redeemer
Written by Philip P. Bliss Music by James McGranahan
1877
This is perhaps the last hymn Bliss wrote before he died in a train wreck. He survived the initial crash, but was killed trying (unsuccessfully) to rescue his wife. The lyrics were found in his belongings after the accident.

My Redeemer

vocals: Ben Allender/Kristen Townley
Cold and calloused was the wasteland
That invited me to rest
All my wearies on its pleasures
Treasures filled with emptiness
I was wrapped up in a darkness
Cornered by my own desires
When in brokeness I cried out
And the Father said arise
(chorus)
I will sing of my Redeemer,
And His wondrous love for me;
Heaven's Lamb and Lord of mercy
By His grace I am set free
As I struggle in life's journey
I cling to His promises
How the fallen are forgiven
When they put their trust in Him
(chorus)
I will sing of my Redeemer,
And His wondrous love for me;
Heaven's Lamb and Lord of mercy
By His grace I am set free
(bridge)
Free from all the sin and shame
That has shackled me
Free to know the Father hears me
When I’m on my knees
Free to know that when I die
He’ll be the one I see
Can somebody please say “Amen”..
Help me as I sing….
(chorus)
Sing of my Redeemer,
And His wondrous love for me;
Heaven's Lamb and Lord of mercy
By His grace I am set ..
Sing of my Redeemer,
And His wondrous love for me;
Heaven's Lamb and Lord of mercy
By His grace I am set
