Story behind the song
I have a friend who just struggles letting go of his past. I was think of how hard it must have been for Peter to recover from the night he denied Christ right after he was told he would. But, he asked forgiveness and moved on to help change the world.
Lyrics
Hey Brother By Lonnie Crampsey Hey brother, where you going now? It seems youve gone astray But you can never run too far Memories from the dust they scream a melody but Some tunes are better left forgot Youre harping on the news of yesterday I'm here to say to you that yesterday is gone Hey brother I see beyond your stare, youre miles away But you dont live there anymore How matchless is the grace that takes our sin and pain? And throws them right out the front door Your dwelling on your sin in everyway But Im here to say its time to be moving on Youre like Peter on the water You take a few small steps with focused vision Then your faith it starts to falter You turn your eyes away, now youre swimming Hey brother I see into your heart and what tugs at you In time I pray that hurt will fade Cuz our Saviors calling out your name to come alive And I know youll never be the same So take on up your empty netting And let him fill your soul on the other side Hey brother, where you going now?
