Story behind the song
Lovers say the mystical properties of the moon influence lovers emotions if it's shining above while they're in the throes of their romantic entanglements. But moon scientists say the configuration of the smile we see up there is a coincidence caused by asteroids smashing into the surface of the moon leaving craters and valleys appearing as a smiling face.
Lyrics
VALLEYS OF THE MOON Words: Louis Brown Music: Dawn Diamond Old moon they say you're magic When two lovers come in sight They say your smile can turn the tide When a romance isn't right So I prayed you'd sprinkle moondust On his lips that feel so warm So when I get to kiss him The kiss would last till dawn [BUT] YOUR SMILE IS ONLY..... VALLEYS OF THE MOON IF ROMANTICS GIVE YOU CREDIT THEY'RE AS CRAZY AS A LOON CAUSE HIS LOVE WOULD BE ALL MINE IF YOUR MAGIC WAS DIVINE YOUR SMILE IS ONLY..... VALLEYS OF THE MOON Your skills are just a legend Tied to that old battered face If you could cast a spell on him I would feel his close embrace But if dreamers lean on moonbeams It's a lack of wisdom thing You're just a pale reflection With no cupid in your genes... CHORUS Br: The asteroids that carved your smile... 'Just an act of chance You never helped me reach him..... You know nothing of romance CHORUS
