Story behind the song
This is a lyric that had to be written for the brave, beautiful, talented girls of the South African Kids Haven whose poetry touches my heart. I am so lucky to have my friend and collaborator Juri Rosenfeld on my side because no one else in the whole world could have made of it what he did. I love you Juri. Also, dearest friend, Amy Caldwell sings the hell out of the vocal and made it her own. I have never been more proud.
One more person, I have to thank, for inspiring this song is a lady who is just known by the name Shaz. Had it not been for her drawing me into the lives of these young poets, I would not have been so motivated in writing this song. Thanks to all of you and especially to you Juri, my idol, my dear dear friend.
