An acoustic song about freedom of expression
Originally a response to Skip James' song I'm So Glad - it later took off in other directions.
I'm so glad that after all this time
I've found a way to be who I am
I wont wear the shackles of normality
See now its only a sham
See where theyve taken you
See what theyve brought you to
Cant you see beyond those dark stone walls
You stare at your shoes
Stand behind the other losers
In the mill of respectability
I'm so glad I've set my mind at rest
Finding I'll never really know who I am
But I'll follow my nature - be what it may
And try and never cause any harm
Though I've found my destiny, you dont need to follow me
You must have your own kind of road to find
Or mountain to climb or painting to sign
Lead your mysterious life
Oh Oh here's how it feels
Striding to heaven in heels
There's mars and there's venus
There's wheels within wheels
The moon between she's silent she sees what is real
I'm so glad to be free from the sadness
That wastes a life away
Dont lose the view of the precious jewel
That shines by night and by day
Do what you have to do
Take what's been given you
Learn how to smile and to see it through
I'm so glad nothing seperates he or she,
or me and you
