At the time I wrote this song, I thought at my age I should be doing something other then hard rock. Recently while the tv has been rehashing the Dixie Chicks situation, it occured to me. Why would I want to make music for people that could trash one of the best bands in music, all because of their political belief. Which I might add, I totally agree with. So unless I get hit really hard on the head, you can bet this will be the last song I write in the country genre.
And congrats to the Dixie Chicks, for putting together one of the best albums I have heard in many many moons.
A Better Place
On my way home from work
Thinking bout my boss who's a jerk
And how my life aint turned out, quite like I planned it
Almost home I stopped at the light
Turned left when I should have turned right
before I knew it, I was half way to Carolina
Am I looking for a better life
With no more pain, and no more fights
But everytime I close my eyes, I can still see her face
Am I looking for a better place
The girl I loved and I left behind
She's like a tattoo on my mind
No matter how I try, she cannot be erased
Am I looking for a better place
I seem ok till you look inside
An empty place that I try to hide
Can't hide you darlin, cause you shine like the stars in the night
Then just like on a movie screen
I wake up it was all a bad dream
She's there beside me, and Im holding her tight.
Am I looking for a better life
With no more pain, and no more fights
everytime I close my eyes, I can still see her face
Thats how I know Im in a better place
Thats how I know Im in a better place
Thats how I know Im in a better place
