Core Northwest (CNW) formed as a fun stress-free effort in the realm of hip hop by Pauleywood and K-Mak D. Over the years we have had fun with it, done some nifty production (at least we think so, though it prolly sucks), and butchered our words over mics for everyone to enjoy. Story behind the song
Before I did this beat, most of out productions were K-Mak concepts, and I would contribute with arrangements, ambience, and vocals. I finally decided to try my hand at some solo beats. Most of my early productions were easily disposable. This beat came relatively early on and I really didn't like it too much to start out with. For some reason I came back to it and continued tweaking it and finshing it up. Finally I had a beat that I was relatively happy with, but still didn't put on a level with some of my other beats. Anyways, around the same time I heard a song by a Seattle emcee, Othello, called Opposite Sides, and I had gotten the acapella of his demo CD I had. For those of you in the know, Othello was in the group Lojique and tours quite frequently with emcee John Reuben. Anyways, for fun I decided to put his acapella vocals over my beat. They fit together pretty close and after a few changes to the bmp of the beat they fit perfectly. the next weekend I was in Seattle to see Othello, and the P-Dub remix of Opposite side was officially endorsed by the man himself.
