This is one that I co-wrote with my wife Marija. I'm just thankful that it's not based on fact.
YOU CAN'T HIDE YOUR HEART
COPYRIGHT 2004 JUSTIN AND MARIJA MATHIAS
He woke up this morning and had a cup of coffee
Knowing that she's coming back today
She's been gone for so long and what he's done is so wrong
And he don't know just what he's gonna say
When she pulls into the driveway, He hears the car door slam, It takes his breath away
She walks up the sidewalk. He walks down the staircase
And tries to hide the guilt that's on his face
She reaches out to hold him, Her loving arms enfold him
God he wishes he wasn't in this place
How can he ever hold her when half the words he's told her were all lies
When you try to hide your heart
It'll tear your heart apart and a broken heart reveals what's inside
When you try to hide your heart
You know from the start that an untrue heart is something you can't hide
You can't hide your heart
You can't hide your heart
You can't hide your heart
She woke up this morning and had a cup of coffee
Dreading that she's going home today
She's tired of all her lying, She knows there'll be some crying
And she don't know just what she's gonna say
When she pulls into the driveway, She knows the time has come it takes her breath away
As she walks up the side walk and he walks down the staircase
She wipes away the teardrops on her face
He reaches out to hold her, familiar arms enfold her
God knows that they've both fallen from grace
She feels that he's lying, He see's that she's crying, They both know there's something
going on
When you try to hide your heart
It'll tear your heart apart and a broken heart reveals what's inside
When you try to hide your heart
You know from the start that an untrue heart is something you can't hide
You can't hide your heart
You can't hide your heart
You can't hide your heart
