Story behind the song
During 2005 Carol secured a partner charity to link to her song 'Va-Rog Va-Rog' in order to raise awareness and funds for the orphans of Romania, we know Carol has gone to great lengths to find a home for this heartfelt song, to keep the momentum going and ultimately to help more desperately poor children. So it is a thrill to find that she has been recognized by Steve Gilmore, who reviews some 600-700 songs a year, and whose opinion is highly regarded by the independent music community. Steve chose Carol Douglas as the recipient of two awards, one for her song 'As the Tidal Wave Rolled In' and also the 'Online Heart Award' (individual) in honour of her efforts to raise money for those in need. Well done Carol we are so proud of you :):) AN UPDATE FROM CAROL DOUGLAS 8.12.05 About "Va-Rog, Va-Rog!" The full story of how I came to write this song (inspired by a little girl Madi)is on my website. Maria Daines and Paul are two of the most talented Blues/Rock artists/songwriters here IMHO, so I can't thank them enough for doing this superb, heartfelt recording for me. They've managed to capture everything I wanted to say. Added 5th April. Now that Romania has a new President, there are great improvements and many children are now being found foster homes etc. However in 2005, there are still orphanages in need of ongoing help from the aid agencies. Please check out the links on my page for all current information and also my website, thank you and happy new year 2006, Carol xx http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pageartist.cfm?bandID=92675 http://www.boltonsongbank.co.uk
Lyrics
"Va-Rog, Va-Rog!" (Carol Douglas) Verse 1 Picture what we wear, It’s nothing like the brightly coloured Jeans and jackets that you wear over there, Picture what we eat, Often it’s just mashed potatoe, Cold tea and biscuit..for a treat, That’s how things really are, That’s how things really are, Bridge But small things and love are what we need, Yes, small things and love are what we need, And our smiles will soon be showing clear as day, ‘Cause the trucks are on their way. Chorus Va-Rog, Va-Rog, Mult-umin, Mult-Umin Va-Rog, Va-Rog, Mult-umin, Mult-Umin Va-Rog, Va-Rog, Mult-umin, Mult-Umin Pose, Pose, Pose, Pose.
