I penned my life in stages
A chapter at a time
The more I turn the pages
The less I recognize
Who are all these characters
With picture perfect lives?
Standing on the edges of
My once upon a time?
I’m livin’ outside my storybook
Judging by the way things look
I’m not fooling anyone anyway
Living outside my fairytale
Bidding it a fare-thee-well
With so much more to tell
Beyond the illustrations beyond the black and white
Lies a Truth to bind the fiction out of anybody’s life
An honest Revelation I’ll set my heart to write
There’s a happily-ever-after fading into sight
I’m livin’ outside my storybook
Judging by the way things look
I’m not fooling anyone anyway
Living outside my fairytale
Bidding it a fare-thee-well
With so much more to tell
You read between the lines of these tattered pages
And see what’s really inside
You love me anyway through all the drama and suspense
More than words could ever say
