Story behind the song
Story behind the song... About two and a half years ago, some very dear friends of mine lost a loved one in a car accident in Maine. He was the brother of my steel player, Perley Curtis. His name was Maynard Curtis. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but from what I've heard, Maynard was greatly loved and touched the lives of many in a positive way while on this earth. This song was written by his father, Perley M. Curtis, and I recorded it as my gift to him and his entire family. These words reflect his faith and it is our hope that the song may touch others who have lost loved ones. We'd like to thank the following people for making this recording possible: Vaughn Lofstead, Perley R. Curtis, Bud Rawls, Gary Brock, Jim Unger and Steve Holland. God bless. Erin
Lyrics
Lyrics We lost a loved one, And now we’re here with no direction Of what to do, where to go Or where we’ve been But dear Jesus, we’re depending On your mercy, to help us through This lonely world we’re living in Yes he’s gone to be With Jesus up in Heaven It’s left us weary And our lives are in a spin But dear Jesus, we’re depending On your mercy, to help us through This lonely world we’re living in Maybe someday time will ease This pain we’re feeling And maybe someday We can start to live again But for now Lord We keep praying for your mercy Please help us through This lonely world we’re living in ©2005 Perley M.
