Story behind the song
I used to pick all by my lonesome when I first began playing guitar. For that reason I always looked for ways to make my sound fuller. To do this, I taught myself to finger pick. Back then I had dozens of songs I could play as instrumentals.
After I started playing in clubs, the front man would often announce that the lead guitar man would play a few instrumentals for them. Then the rest of the band would tear off stage like rats leaving a sinking ship so they could down a few extra brews and schmooz the chicks while I was under the spotlite feeling somewhat like a lab rat.
But then, I guess that's why they always hired me.
