Ben: cello, guitar, production
Catherine: lyrics, voice
This song was chosen to be on a lounge compilation cd to raise money for the tsunami victems.
this originally started as some chords i used to play around the guitar during chill times. i always loved how the chords sounded, and i knew it was only a matter of time till i wrote an entire track with them. the instrumentation (guitar background and solos, cello) were played using the real instruments of course.
there are a few very very cool things about some of the solos.
the first guitar solo, at about 2:09, i start soloing with *all* false harmonics (playing beyond the scope of the fingerboard). they are probably the most difficult thing to play on the guitar, and i have never ever heard anyone perform any kind of straight solo using just false harmonics. at 2:09, listen till the piano comes in... it might be the only time you hear a guitar solo like that.
the last instrumental solo as the track fades away is actually a cello! i flipped my cello on its side and started playing it flamenco style. i had no idea how it would sound, but i must say im extremely pleased! i might have to do that again in the future.
Now, when the world's asleep
Think I'll search for something
Looking out to sea
I hear the echoes (they call to me)
of dreams
And I listen and I feel
so free
I see the sun rise
First touch of the day
And I feel my sadness
fading away
Maybe I should sail away
to a place where the night's turned to day
Lately I have found, there's so much more
Bluer seas call me to their shores
