Produced, Arranged, and Performed by Eric Gwin. All sounds Vocally or Anatomically Produced.
Originally written for "Q", this song is the result of an intense study of Salvation. I've always been fascinated by the ways that people come up with to share their faith. Some people use common ground, like shared interests, while others choose a more direct approach. With this song, I chose to share my faith using music and a pretty straight forward testimony. As you can tell, I was listening to a lot of Progressive Rock Music when I wrote this one.
I was living my life completely in line
With the ways of the world.
What I thought was a good time
Was tearing me apart, both my heart and soul,
And I knew something was missing.
I had searched high and low,
But I couldn't find the answers
To the questions in my mind.
I knew I needed someone
To bring me through this time.
My soul, it needed cleansing,
But I didn't know where to turn.
Right then the Lord reached out to me
And then I said...
Chorus: Take me to the river.
Wash away my sins and cleanse my soul.
Take me to the river.
Lord, make me whole.
I started living my life completely in line
With the ways of the Lord.
I was learning that I could be
An influence to those all around,
And they saw something was missing.
They came to me for help,
So I showed them where to turn.
Right then the Lord reached out to them
And then they said...
Chorus
Pull me under. Rescue me and bury me.
Bridge: Lord, wash away my foolish pride
And all the sin I try to hide.
Destroy deceit and all the lies,
The things that tear me up inside.
Rescue me and bury me
In the grave that sets me free.
The blood that brings eternity
Will take my life away from me.
Take the life that I once knew
Replace it with a life that's new.
Show me what I am to do
Fill me up with you.
With your presence, cover me.
I want others to see
Just how great you can be.
Chorus 2x
Pull me under. Rescue me and bury me.
