Story behind the song
I wrote this song while I was watching a close friend destroy his life. Whenever I would try to talk some sense into him, he was always like, "I can handle it. Don't worry about me." Sometimes our controlling nature wants to keep us from asking for help, and so we try and try to handle life's problems on our own. I've done it plenty of times. The problem is, our sin is bigger than any of us, so it takes a God who is bigger than our sin to make that change for us. He is a place of refuge where you are safe.
Lyrics
Thinking everything is going just right, You're in control of your life. You believe you've got it all together, but not quite. Every day the burdens get bigger. They try to take control. It's gonna take more than you alone To make it through There is only one place you can turn to make things right. There's only one who can give you life And make you whole. There is one who will stay by your side In the middle of the storm. He will never leave you behind. My Lord is always there. There's a choice that needs to be made. You're the only one who can make it. He will make your life complete. You'll be whole again. Chorus: All you have to do is release control. He'll take your burdens all away. Just remember that you're not alone. He'll be with you all the way. Bridge: You need him here right now. You need him here and he'll show you how The joy he gives will change your life. Chorus 2x Copyright (C) 2001 Clockwork Music BMI
