You are discovering the downside of being all grown up.
The first verse of this song was sitting in one of my notebooks when Rob plucked it out and set it to music. I loved what he did with it and wrote a second verse. It's been featured in several cabaret shows (including our own revue Moments In the Air), but I never took a crack at it myself till now.
A hard-bitten cynic
I'll never be
I'm not bitter over dreams that died
I've no broken heart
I'm not torn apart
By pain that I'm keeping inside
It's apparent enough
That my life's not leading
To some great day when
But at times I wish I were
SILLY AND NAIVE AGAIN
I'm glad they're behind me
Those crazy days
No more dancing on the circus wire
I've said my goodbyes
To the lows and the highs
But I can't quite forget the desire
So I'm safe and secure
And I guess I'm happy
Only now and then
I would trade it all to be
SILLY AND NAIVE AGAIN
(INTERLUDE)
So I'm safe and secure
And I guess I'm happy
Only now and then
I would trade it all to be
SILLY AND NAIVE AGAIN
Yes at times I wish I were
SILLY AND NAIVE AGAIN
