Story behind the song
I heard this recently on an old vinyl album I bought in the 60's, Four Seasons: Gold Vault of Hits. I honestly did not recall hearing it. I couldn't get it out of my mind. It was written by Bob Gaudio who was born in the Bronx but raised in Bergenfield, New Jersey, where he attended Bergenfield High School. His mother worked for the text book publishing house Prentice Hall in Englewood Cliffs. My sister-in-law worked there and my wedding pictures were taken in their gardens. In 2009, Gaudio received his high school diploma, 50 years after dropping out of Bergenfield High School. See Jersey Boys.
