This is a song that I wrote about my husband who was stationed over in Iraq for 19 months. I was sitting at a stop light on the way to Taco Bell and I looked back and saw my daughter making this hysterical face and it made me think about how much he was missing while over there. The words just came and at every stoplight and in the drive through lane the song was written.
It's the little things you miss,
That make me cry
It's the everyday ordinary
That gets me by
You are the one I gave my heart to,
God...how I miss you.
I know your job's
Not one that I could do
And you'll see some things
I wish you didnt have to
But I'll be standing there with tears in my eye
When you come back home
Back by my side
When we were married I knew the cost
You could be called away...or even lost
But you are my world you are my life
And I'm so proud, so proud to be this soldier's wife.
I look at our kids
They're growin' up so fast
Our wedding picture
Reminds me of the past
Of the day I pledged my heart and soul to you
For our life long through
Cuz our families not
Complete without you here
Sometimes I watch the news
With so much fear
That its you who have fallen
That I'll get the call
That you sacrificed your life...
To save us all
But when we were married I knew the cost
You could be called away...or even lost
But you are my world, you are my life
And I'm so proud to be your wife.
They say that time
Will fly by
And before we know it
You'll be by my side
When we were married I knew the cost
You could be called away...or even lost
But you are my world, you are my life
And I'm so proud to be your wife.
But when we were married I knew the cost
That he could be called away...or even lost
But he is my world, he is my life
And I'm so proud to be that soldier's wife.
But when we were married I knew the cost
You could be called away...or even lost
But you are my world, you are my life
And I'm so proud to be your wife
