People of all walks, backgrounds, and varied musical tastes have all loved the honesty and feeling of this song.
This song was written while I was incarcerated at a co-ed work-release/halfway house facility. It is really an outpouring of not only my own heartaches and shortcomings, but a culmination of the heartache, regret, and loss which engulfed me.
When the song was first written, I could not find a fitting title and was at somewhat of a loss as to naming it. I played the song for a fellow inmate and friend, David, who was just dumbstruck by just how close the song mirrored his marriage. He begged me to play it for his wife during her visit the following weekend, so I obliged. She broke down and tearfully stated, that's our story. So I named the song after his wife, Tina.
Verse 1
I can’t block from my mind, the memories we’ve shared
Girl there once was a time, when I believed you cared
You said you’d love me for all time
You said you would always be mine
Verse 2
Standing in the doorway, of your daddy’s farm
I didn’t know what to say when I offered you my heart
The day we said our wedding vows
You said we could always work it out
(Chorus)
So where should I run to, where can my heart go
My mind can’t flee from you, and I’m so alone
Oh what I’d give to make you see
That my love, will always be
You said we’d never be apart
You said you could never break my heart
Verse 3
Well my heart keeps drifting back, to another time
I’ve tried but I can’t forget the way it felt when you were mine
Remember walking in the park
How we made love beneath the stars
(Chorus)
So where should I run to, where can my heart go
My mind can’t flee from you, and I’m so alone
Oh what I’d give to make you see
That my love, will always be
You said we’d never be apart
You said you could never break . . . . . . my heart
