Story behind the song
Music is a slow 7/4 beat, composed originally for a modern dance teacher who wanted some music in unusual meters. Lyrics were added later.
Lyrics
(v1) Seems like every thing we hear tries to teach us some new fear. There's no need to be afraid. God is still in His prime. Those old promises He made still are true anytime. (c) Rest in the words of our Maker. No place on earth could be safer. (v2) All the hazards of this life did not frighten Jesus Christ. He had read throughout the scrolls God can turn away the foes. We should follow in his steps no matter how intense it gets. (c) Rest in the words of our Maker. No place on earth could be safer. (bridge) How we need God every day. How well His words guide our way. Promises made by our Helper. Promises made for our shelter. (c) Rest in the words of our Maker. No place on earth could be safer. (v3) All the storms we face on earth only prove what God is worth. There's no need to be afraid. God is still on His throne. Those old promises He made still can bring you safely home. (c) Rest in the words of our Maker. No place on earth could be safer.
