This song represents the heartache and feelings of loss when going through a breakup. It compares these feelings to a warm tropical storm which is both needed as well as toublesome.
I wrote this song kind-of on the spot since I had my friend's high tech Sony multi-track recording studio on hand. I'd worked out this guitar riff about a year prior and sat down and sort of wrote the words off the cuff. This song reached #4 on the Acoustic charts at MP3.Com about four years ago.
I can smell the rain coming, it's closing in
I can hear the tree's rustle, in the wind
Listen to the thunder rolling
Lightning striking all around
Listen to my heart breaking
Warm rain falling down
I watch the lightning's fury, light up the sky
I sit with endless questions, in my mind
Why did she leave me lonely
Wonder if she's still around
Why does this heartache own me
Warm rain falling down
For now this storm keeps raging, in my mind
And I just sit here thinking, killing time
Listen to the thunder rolling
Lightning striking all around
And for now my heart's still broken
Warm rain falling down
