Kansas songwriter Steve Cowell presents his unique styles of pop/rock music and intelligent lyrics.
Hi, I'm Steve Cowell. I'm the leader of the group and I write all the words and music. I also play all the instruments and sing everything, which gets lonely at times, but at least there are few ego clashes and I get along pretty well with the other guys in the band most of the time. We all grew up together and have been playing music together since childhood.

Story behind the song
I was playing with some of the melodies on my acoustic guitar late at night, trying to decide what to do with them. My wife, Kay, jokingly suggested I make it a lullabye because it was putting her to sleep listening to it. I decided to go with that idea and presented the song to her on Valentine's Day.

KAY'S LULLABYE
Copyright 2002 by Steve Cowell
Come to me, darling, and lay by my side
You are my world and my eternal bride
Lie with me here at the end of the day
Let out a sigh as your cares melt away
Just close your eyes with your head on my chest
Now is the time you can let your mind rest
It's all right; nighty-night

Now you are safe lying here in my arms
I will protect you and keep you from harm
Let yourself dream, let your mind drift away
I'll be right here where I always will stay
I'll dim the lights; let the fan cool your brow
Steady your breathing and sleep with me now
It's all right; nighty-night

Just one more thing, darling, before we sleep
We made a promise we always must keep
Like every night since first we met
Kiss me goodnight, soft and sweet, warm and wet
And then a longer one to make me smile
Let your lips linger on mine for a while
It's all right; nighty-night
Close your eyes; nighty-night
