song.
This song is about teen angst as fashion statement. Sort of inspired by the Columbine shootings. I originally produced this in a more angsty way, but then decided to do it in a campy glam rock way. Little lyrical jokes in there like "straight out of a magazine" (gun reference, fashion mag), "number 1 with a bullet", etc.
Recorded in my bedroom studio. I played drums, bass, piano, guitars, lead and background vocals, sax, tambourine, plus some keyboard sounds (strings and French horns in the end bit). My girlfriend is singing the lead with me.
You can wear your heart on your skin
Though you don't want to let anyone in
Spit shine your steel-toe boots
An urbane guerrilla in a bullet proof suit
Straight out of a magazine
You shoot yourself into the scene Oh yeah!
All The Rage! All The Rage!
You can put a hole in your head
Live your whole life as if you were dead
Ugly is beautiful, ugly is in
It's pretty clear you're ugly as sin
Straight out of a magazine
You shoot yourself into the scene Oh yeah!
All The Rage! All The Rage!
You're so outrageous and you wear it like a fake tattoo
You're so contagious when you do the things that you do
Ooh ooh ooh ooh Yeah!
Ooh ooh ooh ooh Yeah!
Straight out of a magazine
You shoot yourself into the scene Oh yeah!
All The Rage! All The Rage!
Number one with a bullet baby Yeah!
