Downfall of the oligarchy
After years of a brutal oligarchy,
Seeds of revolution were planted in the masses,
Underground pamphlets and books of discontent,
The pace of change finally faster than molasses,
Just a tinderbox waiting for a spark,
But the ruling families are completely oblivious,
With self proclamations of a higher birth,
They surround themselves just by those obsequious,
So for the “chosen few” it came as a surprise,
When the people united behind a call of Democracy,
Armed militias poured into the streets,
Behind the banner of “Down with the Monarchy!”
The indignant rulers pulled all of their resources,
Vowing to put down the ungrateful peasants,
“How dare they question us, their sworn masters?”
“If you ask me, their life was never quite unpleasant.”
So they unleashed their armies on the lower caste,
But materials aren’t greater than fraternity,
In masses the armies deserted from their superiors,
No one left to protect the rulers, suddenly.
It only took a few days for the chosen few to fall,
Reduced to ashes in the fires of it all.
It’s the fall of the chosen few,
They knew not what to do,
It’s the fall of the chosen few,
No peace for which to sue,
It’s the fall of the chosen few,
For the masses they did rue,
It’s the fall of the chosen few,
Were a stronger force than you!
