Assassinations! Retaliation! Escalation!
The blood is flowing through the streets of Israel,
Shattered remains amidst twisted, blown up steel,
What a tragedy, how could this be averted?
Upping the violence does nothing except hurt it,
When Palestinians lay their bombs down,
And Israelis stop destroying Palestinian towns,
Well then there will be no more
Assassinations! Retaliation! Escalation!
Missiles fired from U.S.-made helicopters far away,
Impersonalize any killing that might have gone astray,
The funeral procession is incited by the authority,
The line between mourner and militant recedes,
Those hurt by violence are quick to vow revenge,
Maybe if they knew the same results on the other end,
Well then there would be no more
Assassinations! Retaliation! Escalation!
Rather than a resolution they just move farther apart,
Each side proclaiming to be more pious than thou art,
The dividing wall now stands upright and erect,
Never to be torn down so long as they don’t forget,
Their biblical hatred for their long lost brothers,
Only when this fiery hatred is completely smothered,
Will there be no more
Assassinations! Retaliation! Escalation!
