I have been playing guitar since 1970 after my brother bought me my first guitar, a Monaro electric, for Christmas in 1969. I started lessons in February 1970 and the rest is history, well almost. I've been teaching guitar since 1973. In 1981 I recorded a mainly instrumental album, "Take Your Pick", releasing it independently in 1982 on vinyl and cassette (remember those?). I sold less than 100 and never paid off the cost of recording it! :-( I continue to compose and have accumulated many instrumentals which I will record one day and upload here.

Story behind the song
While on a recent short holiday break in the NSW Southern Highlands town of Bowral, I bought a Taylor Mini guitar from the local music shop. It's a superb little instrument, the best travel guitar available, and it sounds great. This is my first composition with it using the 'G sus 4' tuning made famous by Jimmy Page in the 'Rain Song'. However, I've added a twist by placing a capo on the second fret across the five top strings thereby rendering the tuning 'D sus 2' (D A D A D E)! The tune was composed in the grounds of the B & B in which we were staying, Strathburn Cottage, hence it's name, and it has a very Celtic lilt. I've double tracked it for depth and a live feeling. Enjoy.
