Story behind the song
I wrote this song back in 1982, recorded it in 1984, put on wax in 1985. It was only released regionally in several states on the Black Heritage Record label out of Nashville Tennessee. It was one of the eight songs off of the album of my group named "Fire Power" consisting of 5 members. The sound quality is out dated but descent for the technology at that time. However, the content and performance is still stellar! I wrote 6 of the eight songs on the album. "The Rock" was just one of the most popular songs on the LP album. The other 2 songs from the album were written by Al Henderson another member of "Fire Power" who is a very good friend and great musician on soundclick also as a solo artist. (Check Him Out) "The Rock" song style is old school and authentic with real musicians playing the music live in the studio with feeling, heart and soul! I am about to re-do this song for my 2012 album set to be released in April or May of 2012. So be on the look out for the new updated version. But until then here is "The Rock" from the 1985 album titled "Fire Power" I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT! *Again, excuse the dated sound quality and hear the message in the recording!
