When I was at school I didn't know what to do,
but maths didn't seem a big chore.
So counting beans for my living,
seemed to be what I was destined for.
So I went and counted beans for a wage,
it seemed to make some sense at the time.
I don't really think that I thought it through,
a decision with no reason or rhyme.
Now I'm just an old bean counter,
I've counted many beans before.
But I'm just sick and tired of it all,
counting beans has become just a terrible bore.
And now I'm supposed to make sense of a total mess,
and it's really not going too well.
The numbers just don't ever seem to add up right,
and my life has just gone to hell.
Now I'm just a has-been counter,
with my time ticking on some more.
I'm waiting till my retirement comes,
when I won't have to count beans no more.
