Story behind the song
Having played the game Mass Effect a lot recently, I used a few pertinent samples from the game.
The deep boomy voice is the voice of an ancient AI ship Sovereign, vangard of the fleet of AI ships who periodically wipe out all sentient life in the galaxy at the peak of it's greatness. As a hanar once said "Your words have the uncomfortable ring of truth". The reasons why they wipe life out, I have to wait until Mass Effect 3 to find out.
The distorted voice is David Archer. An autistic savant, David is forced by his own brother to use his mathematical brilliance to interface with computers to try and control the Geth (a race of dangerous AI). He cannot cope with the massive amounts of data and noise, and uses his powers to take control of the scientific facility, killing many scientists.
