This song was originally written as a tribute to Elvis Presley and his mother Gladys, whom he lost in the late 50's
As we all lose someone close to us as a necessary part of life, this song reflects on that loss and hopefully will touch people in different ways and provide some level of comfort in the fact that we are not alone. It could also be interpreted as representing a person who has gone out of your life for now, but may return someday.
