Doug Millaway - lyric
A nod to the Fab Four and The Monkees.
When I read Doug Millaway's lyric, I loved the quirky concept of having a musician's ashes placed in the F-Hole of a guitar so they would be part of the music scene whenever that guitar was played. I love that idea and Doug graciously agreed to let me use them. So I wrote an upbeat song to match Doug's dark but humorous lyric.
Put My Ashes In The F-Hole
Verse 1:
When I’m gone, will you take care of me?
Can you fulfill my destiny?
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Don’t put me in the ground, hidden in the weeds.
Chorus:
Put my ashes in the F-hole.
Don’t put me under ground.
When you play that guitar, man.,
I wanna be part of the sound.
Put my ashes in the F-hole
Of your trusty old ax
And every time you play a song
You know that I will be back.
Verse 2:
When I'm in the hearse and carried away
No need for any cryin’. It’s time to play.
Don’t want no flowers on top of me.
Don’t put me in the ground, hidden in the weeds.
Bridge:
Don’t want no cryin’,. Don’t allow no pain.
Don’t put me out in the freezin’ rain.
It’s my final wish. Listen to me.’
Don’t put me in the ground, hidden in the weeds.
(Guitar solo)
Verse 3:
When I'm done will you take care of me?
Can you fulfill my destiny?
A friend in need is a friend indeed
Don't put me in the ground hidden in the weeds
(Chorus)
